Hello all! First off sorry for the lack of posts around here as of latePost image RAM. Adrian and I have been really busy with "real life" if you know what I mean. Anyways enough have that, lets get right to the review...RAM, perhaps the single most important item in your computer.  Without enough RAM your system bogs down when running large applications, multiple applications and games.  Its amazing when I think back to my early gaming days and remember when 64MB of RAM was great and now today we need a minimum of 2 Gig to do anything worth while.

In today's review we are going to go over Patriot Memory's Extreme Performance Viper Series Low Latency 2 GIG DDR2 RAM kit.

I picked this up at a local hardware store to replace the OCZ Reaper 2 GIG kits I was currently running in my gaming rig, which were overclocked to 1000MHz.  I was a bit skeptical when my sales associate recommended Patriot Memory, but he has always been right so I gave it a shot.

General Over View

Well like any memory product it comes in a easy to open package with its branding in your face.  The memory is in-cased in black heat sinks which match my red and black internal theme of my computer case (BONUS!).  The RAM appears to be high quality as the heat sinks do not move when tugged or pushed.  The cost of the RAM was $65 CND - $25 (not a typo) mail in rebate from Patriot Memory!  Honestly how could I go wrong at this price.

RAM Stats:
PC2 - 6400
800 MHz
4 GIG (2 x 2GB) KIT
(4 - 4 - 4 - 12) Timings

Appearance

Well not much to say here.  Its RAM covered in a shiny black heat sinks on each side.  Looks like it means business once installed in your rig.  Also it provides great heat dissipation once air is blown over them.

Software

N/A.  Testing rig is currently running windows Vista 64bit Ultimate.  No issues on recognizing all of the memory.  Unlike 32bit :)

Functionality

This RAM works great!  I have over clocked it to 1000MHz without any heat issues just like my OCZ Reaper.  It installed with zero issues and was up and running within minutes.  I have noticed a slight performance increase when gaming as my load times are a bit faster and the frame rates are up slightly.  Also with a lifetime warranty I bet I will be enjoying this RAM for years to come.  Or until I need DDR3 ;)

Summary

Go buy now!  Actually this is the first time I have used Patriot Memory in a gaming computer and I am impressed! The cost and performance are 2nd to none.
